The young filly kept her head low as she walked through unfamiliar lands, her hope was that any horse that resided in them would not be within sighting. She was in no mood for nips and kicks. Her color was an unusual one, she really had never figured out what one might call it. She simply classified herself as unique. Her steps were slow and deliberate, if anyone were watching, they would call her cautious. And how could she not be?
She stopped at the outskirts of a grassy, open land. She did not see any horses yet, but the land was strong with their scent. It seemed to be an open land for mares, the only scents she were getting were female. Perhaps she could stay here for a while. Layla lifted her head and jumped into a steppy trot, going further into the center of the land. She slowed as she reached a secluded, grassy area with a small creek on the left side. It looked fairly safe, she would be able to see anyone approaching, hostile or not. Lowering her head to sip from the stream, she looked at her reflection, still amazed at what she saw. A smile was brought to her lips momentarily, then she moved away from the stream and to the grasses to graze for a bit.

The young stallion moved cautiously through the lands. He didn't really have any business here. He wasn't interested in recruiting mares to a herd, he wasn't interested in being in herd. Well, maybe if the lead stallion was reasonable, but well, that was just hard to find. With a bit of a snort, he lashed his tail against his flanks and continued on his journey. Rochann had always preferred to be in the company of mares to stallions, which is why he had came here, really. It wasn't rare for stallions to prefer the company of mares, but his reasoning was different than most. He wasn't spending time with them just so he could get some, he just felt safer. It wasn't like he needed them to protect him, but the only other horse he'd ever extensively been around was his mother, and as such, mares were just better company in his opinion. But most mares were mistrusting of stallions, because stallions only want one thing. They were rarely ever given a reason not to think that way.. He could still remember the stallions he and his mother would run into occasionally. They never liked him, because he stood between them and getting what they wanted.
He shook his head a bit, ridding himself of the memories. He'd left his mother about a month ago, but he still missed her. Either way, it was better for both of them. He couldn't follow her around and remain dependent on her forever, and she couldn't easily join a herd with him around. He just hoped she was happy now.
The fresh scent of a mare finally wafted to his nostrils and instantly he felt nervous. See, Rochann had this problem. . . He was shy. Even though he felt more comfortable around mares, he didn't actually feel comfortable around anyone. But he still felt lonely, he still felt the need to socialize. A pretty odd dilemma, but one he planned to eventually overcome. So, steeling himself, he continued to walk toward her scent. He came upon her soon enough, and she was quite striking. Her pelt color was one he'd never seen before. So, of course he thought she was pretty. That didn't mean he was going to try and be with her though, she seemed too young for that in any case. Rochann stayed on the opposite side of the stream. "Hi there." He greeted softly.
