History: Jaybird grew up in a small herd. Her father was a tough stallion and held the firm belief that mares should be seen and not heard. So with this, she and every other filly and mare in the herd were taught to be as silent as possible, speak only when spoken to and to bow to all stallions when greeting them. While Jaybird wasn't a rebellious type, she had a very hard time adjusting to this. She and another filly in the herd would sneak off to the forest edge to talk where her father wouldn't be around to silence them.

But one day, disaster struck. While she and her friend were talking at the forest edge, nestled under the shade of the trees, a mountain lion crept up from the shadows and leaped at them. Squealing in terror, the spun about and ran for their lives. Blindly running, they did not realize they were headed away from their family instead of toward them... and after a hard run, her friend's legs could not keep carrying her and stumbled, the cat leaping a top her back and ending her year and a half long life. Jaybird had kept running, sorrow in her heart, until she fell as well.

Now, a few months later, she's found her way to the Misty Plains to search for a new family, having unintentionally left her old one behind.
